About the Photo
A pair of kayakers cross a section of Lake Erie near Presque Isle State Park in Erie, Pennsylvania. I find that to capture compelling moments in a photo, it's helpful to embed myself into the environment so that I can be there, camera ready, to observe what happens. Which is why I searched for a campsite along the shores of Lake Erie instead of booking a hotel. With my tent door open and facing toward the lake, I could relax and wait for the right kind of light and for the these kayakers to enter the scene, which made for a nice photo for my Uncharted story about camping on the beach.
