About the Photo

The sun sets over Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest near Laramie, Wyoming. Sometimes a setback leads to a good photo. I was driving through Wyoming on my way to Utah to work on a story about Antelope Island State Park near the Great Salt Lake when my car broke down in Buford, Wyoming, population of one. I ended up getting towed to nearby Laramie where I was held hostage by a Ford dealership for a week while I waited for my car to get fixed. Trying to make the best of the situation, I rented a car and drove into Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest and discovered this fascinating sunset, making the breakdown worth every penny.
